This little girl and her family don’t live too far from my home studio so it was nice to meet some people from the neighbourhood! I really enjoyed meeting her whole family and her big brother who cooperated VERY well for his sister’s photo session and was oh so patient and quiet while we were taking her photos. She was a VERY sleepy baby too so that didn’t hurt things at all either. When we get a sleepy baby we can get a nice variety of images. She was pretty content to let me do what I wanted to do…perhaps modelling is in her future! Thank you for coming to see me for your newborn photos!

They don’t come much cuter than these two!!!

This little cutie used to live right across the street from us. We have sure missed this family since they moved, but luckily they didn’t go too far so we still get to see them from time to time. This time it was for her 1 year cake smash session. I cannot believe how fast time flies and that it has been a year since she was born already. I usually try to get a shot of the cake with the baby before they dig in, but this little girl was not waiting for that! She immediately picked up her cupcake and threw it before I could even press the shutter haha! She certainly has her own way of doing things (just like her mama!). I had fun watching her wriggle and roll all over the place and stop for a few breaks where she would actually eat her cake in between too haha! Thanks so much for coming to see me again!

This family is another family that is particularly special to me. I did much of my university schooling with the intention of becoming a teacher. I spent many hours volunteering in this beautiful woman’s classroom over the years and I can’t speak highly enough of what a wonderful educator, mother, friend, wife and human being she is. There has been a tough battle with cancer for her lovely husband the past year or so and thankfully there has been much to celebrate in that regard recently. While her son was home, she asked if I would come to their home to capture some family photos of them all (and of course their pup too!). I was delighted to go spend some time with them that evening and capture some fun images of their beautiful family. I am so happy for all of you. Thank you for inviting me in to take some photos of this special time in your lives!

This one was one of my absolute FAVOURITES…ahhhh young love!

As some of you may know, a charity that is near and dear to my own heart is Hugabull Advocacy and Rescue Society. We share our home with an American Bulldog and although she is not a rescue dog we have learned through her the absolute heart of gold possessed by bully breeds of all kinds (pit bulls, bulldogs, mastiffs, staffordshire terriers etc.). When we learned of Hugabull after we got Roxie we decided to donate to the cause for our wedding instead of doing favours. From there it all snowballed and I have been participating in photographing many of the dogs for their yearly fundraising calendar for the past 3 years. I don’t want to give away too much here before the calendar is out, but here are a couple of sneak peeks and a couple of outtakes as well. I will post when the calendars are available for purchase in case anyone would like to purchase one!

I’m pretty sure if Yoda and a dog had a baby, it would look like this funny outtake haha!

This session was a very special one for me. I have loved animals all my life and wanted to be a vet from a very young age. My second job was working at Burnaby Veterinary Hospital which I started when I was in my graduating year from high school. I worked for this lovely family there for 5 years and loved every moment of it. I learned so much about animals working there and I met a good number of friends along the way. When I was asked to do some family portraits before they sell their property soon I was delighted knowing just how gorgeous their home and farm is and how much fun it was going to be wrangling animals of all types into the photos too hahaha! Thank you so much for inviting me to do your family photos guys, it was an absolute honour! Good luck on your new chapter in your retirement!

I kind of loved these two donkeys, but I can honestly say I now know why the expression “stubborn as a mule” exists…hahahaha!
