VANCOUVER PHOTOGRAPHER-Image Explorations

I had the opportunity to get away to Shawnigan Lake on Vancouver Island a little while ago for a workshop with the incredibly talented Scott Robert Lim at Image Explorations. Photography is definitely a field where the learning never stops and I wanted to get a handle on some new and modern off camera flash techniques from a world class photographer. I had seen Scott speak at Imaging USA in Texas when I attended early in the year and when I saw he’d be holding a 4 day workshop on the island I signed up right away!

Once I had signed up an opportunity arose to write an exam to work towards my certification. For those who don’t know the Professional Photographers of America (PPA), which I am a member of, offer a program to certify photographers, helping to ensure a standard level of skill and professional knowledge. With DSLRs becoming more affordable these days, many people are picking them up and starting a “business” as a photographer. Unfortunately too many of these people lack the skills and knowledge necessary to provide their clients with the best possible images and experience. I decided to work towards becoming a CPP (Certified Professional Photographer) this year. That requires this exam as well as an image submission. I am proud to say I passed my exam and hope that once I make my image submission I will be able to say that I am officially certified!

The week I was away was a whirlwind of learning, knowledge and fun! Shooting alongside Scott is an experience I will never forget and I am looking forward to attending another workshop he will be holding internationally in December as well. A HUGE thank you to Scott Robert Lim, the organizers and volunteers for Image Explorations, the sponsors, the models and all of my new (and old) friends who came!

Extra thanks to Scott for sitting in the chair so I could get this shot. Please notice the Bruce Lee shirt. I feel it really completes this “look” hahaha!
